In which there was a stark contrast

There was a stark contrast today between my afternoon run around Greenlake:

…and the chaos at the Boston Marathon. Our thoughts go out to all those affected. Our friend Verlaine and his family were at the finish line about 30 yards from the blast waiting for his brother Jonathan who was about two miles out. Thank goodness none of them were hurt, though it took a while to regroup. Jonathan is severely autistic and this would’ve been his 9th marathon – he was running for Autism Speaks during Autism Awareness month.

Just very, very thankful our friends are okay. We’ve known Verlaine longer than we’ve been a couple (which is saying something). He played violin for our first dance at our wedding. Prayers for all of those and their friends and family that weren’t as lucky.
